This can include radio transmissions with air traffic control, messages from the pilots' headsets, automated radio weather briefings, warning tones, stall warnings, and even engine noise. With an area microphone positioned near the overhead instrument panel, or another approved location, CVR equipment can also pick up ambient cockpit audio.
