The Barfield DPS 500 avionics test equipment is a bench tester which is a Air Data Test Set is a self-sufficient, mobile, fully automatic, user programmable Pitot-Static tester encased in a military styled housing. The avionics test set has a DPS501 controller, a Pressure/Vacuum pump, and a remote hand-terminal enabling ideal procedure from the cockpit.

The most recent DPS450 completes a full line of Barfield Digital Pitot-Static/Air Data testers. All attributes of the air data tester are fully automatic and need no manual sequencing of valves or regulators. The DPS450 has entirely automatic control thru menu-driven high contrast electroluminescent display and tactile membrane keypad. The automated controller mechanically generates and constantly sustains the input altitude, airspeed or VSI values.

TThe DPS500/501 testers were developed to fulfill the aviation industry's growing requirements and the demand for reducing maintenance costs. Precision Vibrating element sensors obtain high precision read-out and control of both altitude and airspeed parameters. The high accuracy and steadiness of the device allows the DPS500/501 for certifying aircraft for Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) procedures and increases the calibration interval from thirty days to once each year.

The advanced yet user friendly display is fully programmable for a selection of avionics test requirements. It can be programmed, with limits and referred units of values, for individual aircraft types. The degree of data shown can be determined by the operator to fit the suitable task being carried out.

Adding up to the regular pitot-static attributes of the DPS450, there are plenty of additional advanced functions that consist of: automatic go-to-ground, leak test mode and device under test protection amongst others. This enables the user to start flightline testing accurately and efficiently, without having to sacrifice safety requirements.
